Another photographer found a bassoon angel in a church - Kirch am Hof or Church of the Farm. It was built in 1386 with some facade work changed over the years.
Photographer was Ilvic (via Flickr). Information from Wikipedia.

This is called Bassoon Angelic. It was found by the photographer in a cathedral (unnamed) and part of the organ. Anyway, the issue with calling it a bassoon is that it’s not actually a bassoon. It’s the predecessor to the bassoon called a Dulcian (or Curtal). The Dulcian was made from one piece of wood and only had finger holes. The “modern” bassoon was made from pieces of woods and put together. I guess this is “splitting hairs” as they say. It is still beautiful. Photographed by Groenling via Flickr.

I ran across a photo and comments by a bassoonist, Andy Gilham, who was sightseeing at the La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona (Catalonia), Spain. He said, “I almost passed out upon first sight.” What he saw was a bassoon playing angel carved into the nativity scene facing entrance of the cathedral (close up photo by Gilham). He noted the hierarchy of the bassoonist being on top (see upper photo by Groenling).
The top photo by Groenling (via Flickr) shows most of the nativity scene - the upper left is the bassoon angel; the bottom left are the Wise Men. The Shepherds are bottom right with the harpist at top. The holy family is in the center.
